RESTORATION OF EXTERIOR LIMESTONE FAÇADE Atlanta, GA
The project consists of a $ 15 million restoration of the exterior limestone panels of a 1920’s art deco building. The building is 14 stories above grade and the current foot print is 165’ by 216’ with Indiana limestone exterior skin.
The existing conditions of the exterior walls, terraces and setback roofs were surveyed. A history of previous work on the building was assembled, and current water infiltration was reviewed. The overall water tightness of the building was studied as moisture was suspected to be causing much of the damage. The biggest challenge was to accurately access the full cause and extent of damage without removing each piece of stone. Our approach was to use technology that can look through the façade at the support components as well as exhausting recorded historical data on this and similar facilities. We also developed a management plan for expected future problems.
Project Size: 180,000 Sq. Ft.
Construction Cost: $15 M

NETWORK INFORMATION CENTER Atlanta, GA
This building is prominently displayed along one of Atlanta’s busiest freeway. An 110,000 sq. ft. facility that houses data center and administrative offices functions. The work included development of programming, space planning, interior design, overall design, assistance in site usage and master planning for future facilities. The design took advantage of the need to keep the roof drains on the exterior to reduce the potential of water entering the building and to keep the water away from the equipment. The downspouts became architectural elements, which gives this building its identity. The peach palette was chosen to signify its importance and presence in the state of GA. This building was to be a showcase and the progressive high tech image is also carried throughout the interior. The repetitive and modular design of the façade was chosen to save time and money and for ease of quick construction.
Project Size: 110,000 Sq. Ft.
Construction Cost: $25 M
